A rechargeable battery is a secondary source of direct current electricity,in which electrical energy is converted to chemical when charged and chemical energy when discharged to electric.
The conditional designation of the battery shall be deciphered as follows:
-20-the number of consecutively connected batteries;
-FP-type of battery electrodes(baked,film);
-25-rated capacitance in ampere-hours(with hourly discharge mode);
-HIC-type of battery(safety plus reliability);
-T-the presence of a thermostat;
R–modification in the LPG production container.
Main technical data:
–capacity at the clock mode of discharge–25 Ah;
–Voltage:
-at idle-25.5 V;
-at a load from 85 to 100 A–23 V;
–operating temperature of the thermometer–(70±2.8)ºC;
–weight–24.5 kg.
Brief description of construction
The 20FP25HICT-R battery consists of 20 sequentially connected FP25HIC batteries(cells).
Each battery consists of positive(nickel)and negative(cadmium)plates,separator,electrolyte,vessel and valve.
The block of plates separated by separators is placed in a housing made of heat-resistant plastic.The body is filled with an electrolyte-a solution of edible potassium,which is not involved in the reaction,but only serves as a conductor of current between the positive and negative plates.Therefore,the density of the electrolyte is not a criterion for the degree of charge of the battery.
The upper casing cover has three openings:two for the power outlets and one for the valve.The valve ensures the removal of gases formed in the process of operation at a pressure(0.35±0.2)kGS/cm2,and also prevents the leakage of the electrolyte during the evolutions of the aircraft.
On the inter-element connection 10 and 11 of the batteries is installed a bimetallic thermostat.If in the process of operation the temperature of the interconnection reaches(70±2.8)ºC,the contacts of the heat transmitter will be closed and include an alarm board about the overheating of the battery.The battery in this case should be disconnected from the boardset.The board will extinguish when the temperature decreases below
(70±2.8)ºC.
The batteries are located in the compartment located in the left runway between the spanguts No.23 and 24.
