A ground power unit(GPU)is a device that supplies electrical power to an aircraft while it is on the ground. It is essential for operating systems such as lighting, avionics, and air conditioning without using the aircraft’s onboard power sources.Ground power units for aircraft can be fixed, mobile ground power units,or portable ground power units, catering to various operational needs. If you’re looking for a ground power unit for sale, options vary based on aircraft requirements.
A ground power unit works by converting external energy, such as electrical or fuel-generated power, into a form compatible with aircraft systems. The aircraft ground power unit connects to the aircraft using standardized cables and plugs, delivering regulated power to essential systems like navigation and climate control. Some advanced green GPU models also feature environmentally friendly technology to reduce emissions.
