Product description
Beirut International Airport(IATA code:BEY,ICAO code:OLBA)is located 9 kilometers(5.6 miles)south of Beirut,Lebanon. It is owned by the Lebanese Armed Forces and operated by the Lebanese Air Force. The western end of Beirut International Airport is the base of the Lebanese Air Force,as well as the aviation base for Hunter fighter jets and Fouga trainer aircraft.
Beirut Airport is a famous international airport, with 70 airlines flying through it before the Lebanese Civil War.During the civil war, airports were often forced to close. In 1990,the Lebanese government invested$400 million to renovate Beirut Airport, increasing its annual throughput from 2 million to 6 million people.
On December 4,2024 local time, the Iraqi Ministry of Transport announced that Iraqi Airways had resumed flights between Baghdad International Airport and Beirut Rafik Hariri International Airport on the same day, which means that the direct flight route between Iraq and Lebanon, which was suspended due to the situation in Lebanon, has officially resumed.[5]
On December 6,2024,it was reported that flights at Beirut Airport were gradually resuming and Lebanese people were returning home.
